About Us
Families find support, friendship, & love all in one place
RMHC® Richmond programs and services are made possible through the generous financial and in-kind contributions of individual donors, corporate partners, and sponsors. Our programs are fueled by the dedication and commitment of thousands of volunteers. We are so grateful for the amazing support we receive from the Richmond community as we continue to fulfill our mission.
At RMHC Richmond, we offer several unique programs that provide family-centered care and services to help families get through the most challenging time in their lives.
Ronald McDonald House® on Monument Avenue
Opened in 1980, our first Ronald McDonald House® is located on Monument Avenue in Richmond, VA. The House is our cornerstone program that provides temporary housing and support services for families with a child being seen in any local medical facility and must travel far from home for their child’s care.
Ronald McDonald House® at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU
Our newest Ronald McDonald House®, opened in 2023, is located in the Children’s Tower Sky Lobby at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) at VCU. The facility, run by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Richmond staff and volunteers, serves patient’s caregivers and families as their children receive medical treatment.
Ronald McDonald Family Room®
Ronald McDonald Family Rooms® are located at Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital and HCA Virginia Johnston-Willis Hospital. These rooms provide a place for parents to recharge, grab a bite to eat, or get the well-deserved rest they need to be strong for their children.
Hospitality Carts
Hospitality Carts travel the hospital hallways visiting families and patients on pediatric floors of local area hospitals. Operated by volunteers, the Hospitality Carts are stocked with snacks, toiletries, activities, and toys to provide small comforts that go straight to children’s hospital rooms.
Lunches with Love
Lunches with Love is our meal delivery program that provides families with access to a nutritious lunch at the hospital, relieving the financial burden from families who are focusing on their child’s medical care. Lunches are provided by volunteers and are delivered to local pediatric and neonatal units at local area hospitals.
RMHC Sibling Center
The RMHC Sibling Center reduces stress and inspires fun by providing a safe, developmentally appropriate environment for brothers and sisters of children receiving care in the Children’s Pavilion at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU and in nearby inpatient units.
Your Support has Impact
By supporting RMHC Richmond, our donors and volunteers keep families together and close to the care they need, relieving financial and logistical burdens for thousands of families every year. Since we opened our doors in 1980, we have never closed them. Our House on Monument Avenue and our rooms within hospitals give families the comforts and feeling of home.
